Who are we?

The Lifted Brow is a quarterly literary/culture/ideas print magazine made in Melbourne that publishes work from folks who hail from all over. It is distributed and read around the world.

The magazine can also be read digitally, and on our website we publish regular commentary, literary reviews and humour writing. We also make the occasional book.

Since its inception in 2007, The Lifted Brow has featured in its pages the work of a wide variety of writers, including Christos Tsiolkas, Helen Garner, David Foster Wallace, Margaret Atwood, Neil Gaiman, Rick Moody, Karen Russell, Tom Cho, Douglas Coupland, Heidi Julavits, Tom Bissell, Tao Lin, Eileen Myles, Wayne Koestenbaum, Rebecca Giggs, Margo Lanagan, Jim Shepard, Frank Moorhouse, Anna Krien, Romy Ash, Matthew de Abaitua, Diane Williams, Sam Lipsyte, Sheila Heti, Jim Shepard, Chris Somerville, Elizabeth Gaffney, Andrés Neuman, Angie Hart, Blake Butler and Benjamin Kunkel.

We also stage events, run workshops, and collaborate with other organisations on creative projects.
